Meeting Point/Ending Point: Guest's Hotel Sunrise at Angkor Wat The tour starts with a pickup from your hotel. The time will be advised when we confirm your booking. The van will take you through the busy streets around town right to the Angkor Archeological Park and the Angkor Wat temple where you will meet the rest of the group and your guide will pick out the perfect position to watch the dawn break. If the weather gods are with you, the sun will rise up behind the majestic spires of Angkor Wat and provide the most stunning of silhouettes. This is truly a profound experience. Angkor Wat Walking Tour & Breakfast As the crowds of tourists disperse, you will have Angkor to yourselves in the best temperature and light of the day. Your guide will take you through this ancient wonder to give you an overview of Angkor Wat after which you enjoy breakfast, just outside the temple area in peaceful surroundings. Biking Angkor Archeological Park
The rest of the day is spent cycling the back trails through thick forest to ancient ruins, stopping at both iconic and lesser-known temples. Among others, we park our bikes at the many faces of Bayon and the jungle swallowed Ta Prohm, both must-sees. Enjoy pedaling through the mysterious jungle surrounding the temples before we take lunch by the small reservoir called Sra Srang. As the day heats up, we drive back to town and to your hotel. You can expect to arrive back around 2pm. Note: We will pick you up from your hotel at the time advised when you book. Bring your camera, sunglasses, sunscreen and comfortable cycling clothes. We will start our ride out towards the main temple area at 7:30 along a small road which follows the Siem Reap River. Cycle the Angkor Temples
The first temple we visit is the majestic Angkor Wat. We then cycle the main circuit road and just as we enter Angkor Thom, we leave the road and spend the rest of the day on charming, quiet trails through these imposing structures. We visit Bayon, famous for its many faces and The Elephant Terrace while our lunch is prepared. After a tasty local lunch, we visit Ta Prohm, the crumbling structure that has been swallowed by the jungle. Along the way, we’ll stop at each site for some history and exploration of these incredible ancient structures. From Ta Prohm, we ride a red dirt road and then some great small tracks back to town. You can expect to return to town around 4:30 pm after a satisfying day of taking in the temples at the relaxed pace of cycling. Please note: Appropriate dress (knees and shoulders fully covered) is compulsory for entry into certain sections of Angkor Wat, and should also be observed throughout all temple areas for reasons of cultural sensitivity. Learn about this age-old craft, watch the master and give it a try yourself. Local specialty Once we are done learning about weaving, we’ll get back on the bikes and continue our exploration of the countryside. Riding past rice fields and buffalos, we’ll make our way to a typical Cambodian noodle shop to discover a staple dish in the Khmer diet: Num Banh Chok. Village house Next, we’ll get back on the bikes for a short ride as we cycle our way to a village house to relax and enjoy some snacks. This stop offers a great opportunity to experience first-hand daily life in the countryside. While building techniques have changed over the years, the guiding principles behind their design remain the same and reflect the lifestyle and challenges of living in the countryside. West Baray Next, we head to the West Baray, a man-made lake dating back to Angkorian times. Cottage industries After a 10 km ride through small paths and backstreets, we make our way to a local basket/rattan weaver. Learn about this age-old craft, watch the master and give it a try yourself. Local specialty Once we are done learning about weaving, we’ll get back on the bikes and continue our exploration of the countryside. Riding past rice fields and buffalos, we’ll make our way to a typical Cambodian noodle shop to discover a staple dish in the Khmer diet: Num Banh Chok. Village house Next, we’ll get back on the bikes for a short ride as we cycle our way to a village house to relax and enjoy some snacks. This stop offers a great opportunity to experience first-hand daily life in the countryside. While building techniques have changed over the years, the guiding principles behind their design remain the same and reflect the lifestyle and challenges of living in the countryside. West Baray Next, we head to the West Baray, a man-made lake dating back to Angkorian times.
