TOUR DESCRIPTION

Starting Time: 4:00 am - End Time: 2:00 pm

Meet with your guide and driver at your hotel in South Bali area. After picking up your other new fellow photo hunters, head to the famous Heaven Gate of Lempuyang Temple in time for sunrise. Take some candid images in the soft light of Golden Hour and enjoy a peaceful photo session. Continue the journey to Tirta Gangga Water Palace, a veritable treasure trove of photogenic backdrops. Models also need to eat, thus it’s time to indulge in a well-deserved breakfast at the only restaurant inside the water palace.

Fully recharged, head to Bukit Asah (Asah Hill) and enjoy the panoramic views of the Balinese coast where the rugged shore clashes with the azure-blue water, jump up high or pose amidst a picnic set up. Last stop on this photography quest is Virgin Beach. With little crowds, clean white sand, and crystal-clear water to boot, this beach is one of the island’s best kept secrets. Change outfits and capture some enviable moments in paradise. For a special local touch, pose with a traditional Balinese fishing boat, sitting close to the shore.

Once finished, grab a chair in the shade of a parasol at a small cafe and relax with a refreshing drink. Spend some time tanning, massage, or swimming before travelling back to the hotel to upload the best shots

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Starting Time: 7:00 am - End Time: 5:30 pm

Meeting Point: In front of Beer Brothers Jl. Matahari Terbit Sanur

Start today’s adventure by meeting your fellow traveller and your guide for the day at Beer

Brothers Jl. Matahari Terbit Sanur. Enjoy the fun 45-minute speedboat ride to Nusa Penida,

where a driver will be waiting at the ferry drop-off point. Set off and get ready to be awed

all day by a series of breathtaking discoveries. The first stop is Broken Beach, a small cove

locally known as Pantai Pasih Uug. Broken Beach is a naturally formed lagoon, a circular

hole in a rocky outcrop that appears at first glance to be entirely enclosed by cliffs. Sip on a

coconut at a nearby stall and wonder at this natural spectacle, watching clear water drift in

from the ocean beyond. From the towering heights of Broken Beach, head closer to the

water at Angel’s Billabong. This natural “infinity pool” is a lagoon framed by staggered and

jagged volcanic rocks. The water is clear enough to see the strange patterns of rock

formations on the pool floor.

Head next to Kelingking Beach, one of the most striking natural landmarks in Indonesia.

Kelingking translates in English to “pinkie finger,” but the breathtaking viewpoint is most

famous for its striking resemblance to a Tyrannosaurus Rex! Stand atop the steep cliffs to

marvel at the famous rock formation, jutting into the water to cradle a white sand beach. In

Kelingking Beach, you will be given free time to enjoy snacks and cold drinks at plenty of

friendly “warung,” or small local shops and eateries.

Next, we will take you to one of the amazing beaches in Nusa Penida, Crystal Bay. As the

name suggests, jump right in to the crystal clear, calm, and clean water of this picturesque

beach, abundant in exotic marine life. A healthy coral reef lies not far out from shore,

making this the perfect opportunity to rent snorkelling gear and peek underwater. Swim

and dive in the temperate waves or simply relax under the shade of a coconut tree. After a

full day of exploration and relaxation, return to the harbour to board a speedboat back to

Bali.

Meeting Point: Tanadewa Hotel (Ubud Area)

Drop off Point: Tanadewa Hotel (Ubud Area)

Just an hour journey from your Hotel in South Bali, today you will be taken to the unspoil village of Manggis to experience the daily life of Balinese farmers. Upon arrival, a friendly Balinese man will greet and welcome you as he looks forward to sharing his knowledge about farming and how the foods we eat end up on our tables. Throughout the day, get stuck into the day-to-day activities of a Balinese farm.

Walk along farmers trails to reach the organic rice field. From the farmer, you will hear that these organic farming practices align with Hindu Balinese beliefs of protecting the earth and being kind to nature. Learn about their story – how they went from previous farming methods using chemical pesticides that damaged the land to beginning their organic rice-planting journey.

During planting season, take off your shoes and get in the mud to plant some rice. Your new farmer friend will show how many seeds to plant and the technique of walking backwards while making sure you give enough space for the rice to grow. When it’s harvest season, the village will have beautiful yellow fields ready to reap. Typically, the rice crop reaches maturity 105 – 150 days after planting. Harvesting in Manggis is done manually, minimizing grain damage and maintaining the outstanding quality of the organic rice. Harvesting activities include cutting with sickles, stacking, and threshing.

And, when the crops are in the growing stage, help the farmer nurse them with the organic fertilizer made on-site.

The great thing about the farm at Manggis is you will see the three stages of rice farming at any time of year – so get involved with planting, nurturing, and harvesting whenever you visit. The guests will be able to indulge in traditional snacks at the farmer community hall.

Meeting Point: Tanadewa Hotel (Ubud Area)

Drop off Point: Tanadewa Hotel (Ubud Area)

Dust off those hiking equipment on your shelves and wake that long-buried active and adventurous inner self. Explore the hidden trails of the Manggis area on this challenging, but rewarding walk to Jagasatru Waterfall and on to the top of the range of mountains that Kaura sits on.

The walking starts from the doorsteps of Kaura and takes you immediately into small trails that weave through the gardens and yards of the village residents who are always welcoming and pleased to see you. Guided by the local who knows this route like it is the back of his hand, this 3 hours trail will get your heart rates up quite quickly but after the first 40 minutes, it levels out slightly as we start to work our way across the gully. Our hiking guide are from the community and have a good rapport with the people, making this a warm, engaging experience.

Before going down to the Jagasatru Waterfall, at the top of the hill, our standby team member would be at the ready to recharge you with snacks, fruits, and water refill. Fun fact, this hill is also the place where the big statue of Brahma located in the east side of the island. It is one of the three Gods in Hinduism resembling balance of the island, with Wisnu in GWK (Garuda Wisnu Kencana) (south) and Shiva in Tabanan (west) to create some sort of triangle of balance in the island. The waterfall is a stunning site and the pool formed at its base is a great spot to cool-off. With the natural waters flowing down, there is a pool for people to do a water blessing just below this waterfall. At the waterfall, there is time for a dip in the fresh cold pool at the foot of the falls.

Continue your journey through the jungle to reach the third stopping point. This stop is where the locals create Arak, a local alcohol drinks that came from palm trees. Established since

1972 with now third generation as the current owner, you would see the traditional distillation process using bamboo and firewood-fuelled stove. For the adventurous self, be careful that the first-class Arak said to be containing 50% alcohol. Next, the meeting point with the driver to take you back to the hotel is located at an abandoned villa that once-most- prestigious-villa in the area.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Starting Time: 7:30 am - End Time: 3:00 pm

Meeting Point: Mercure Legian Hotel (South Bali)

Drop off Point: Mercure Legian Hotel (South Bali)

We stop to visit a bee farm, developed and operated by a hearing-impaired couple with a great story and amazing honey! The latter part of the ride passes through picturesque rice farming scenery on the way down to sea level where we conclude our ride at Virgin Beach.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

This tour starts at Kaura at 09:00am

Note, this is a small group experience. You will have the opportunity to meet fellow travellers on this tour.

Just an hour journey from your Hotel in South Bali, today you will be taken to the unspoilt village of Manggis to experience the daily life of Balinese farmers.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Starting Time: 9:30 am - End Time: 11:00 am

Meeting Point: Kaura Bali

Drop off Point: Kaura Bali

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city to unwind in the cool air of Manggis village. Prepare your comfiest walking shoes and embark on a 1.30-hour trekking trip. The first phase of the trekking will lead clients through the charming village between authentic Balinese traditional houses – take the time to chat with the welcoming villagers.

The first stop will be at the palm winemaking house, owned by a humble couple who will show you how they climb the palm trees and harvest their juices. They collect the white juices that initially taste very sweet and non alcoholic before the fermentation process. Fermentation is done naturally by natural yeast in the air, and therefore, within 2 hours, it reaches a mild alcoholic content. The longer they ferment the wine, the higher the alcohol content.

Next, your English-speaking local guide will take you on an unusual trekking route in his village, less frequented and peaceful, unlike most routes in the main area of Bali. Trek through the rice fields until you reach the dense forest. Spot the exotic plants growing in this tropical climate, including coffee, cocoa, cloves, and sensational tasting fruits like durian or jackfruits.

Walk and stop at various points to appreciate the breath-taking scenery and the amazingly photogenic spots. Let your friendly local guide know when you want to take a break – the schedule is flexible, and the focus is on being easy-going. Navigating the dense trees, the path will take you to a natural crystalline pool where you can bathe, swim and chill. After some time for relaxation, continue walking to a local organic garden run by a local female farmer’s group. Learn about their project and their efforts to expand their sustainable farming methods. Many of these ladies were spa therapists before the pandemic. Now, working again in their local village, visitors to Manggis can benefit from the option of a foot massage after their hike.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Starting Time: 9:00 am - End Time: 13:00 pm

We will then return to Kaura in a vehicle transfer of about 20 minutes.

  • 2nd Meeting point: Monkey Forest at 9:30 am, our Tour Guide wearing Discova T-Shirt will be waiting for you in front of ticket booth - End Point: Ubud Palace

If you are from the South Bali area, meet other travelers at Discova Office where our air-conditioned vehicle and guide are already waiting for you. First, drive to the Monkey Forest in Ubud and meet other travellers from the Ubud area and create a fun memory for today with your newfound friends.

The first visit is Monkey Forest; this sanctuary covers 12.5 hectares of land, consisting of lush jungle and ancient-looking ornaments throughout. Home to more than a thousand of Bali's cheekiest inhabitants, the macaque monkeys, it surely gives you the feeling of stepping into another world. Please note the dos and don'ts advised by our guide before entering the sanctuary.

Next up, visit Alas Harum, a tourist attraction famous for its emerald gemstone in Ubud. Simply savour the panoramic view of the seemingly endless rice terraces, trek down the valley and find a cool spot to take pictures, involve in various activities offered, or challenge yourself by experiencing the swing. Bring cash as there will be some photo spots that will incur an extra charge.

Afterwards, savour a well-deserved lunch in the same place. Overlooking the valley with its vast rice terraces, will surely give you a feeling of eating with nature.

Rest after your lunch as we will drive next to one of the famous waterfalls in Bali. Change into your swimwear and take the best shots in front of the water falling from 15 meters high, creating surreal scenery. The trek down will require 15 minutes’ walk through a set of stairs; it is advised to use proper footwear.

Continue to the last stops of the day: Ubud Palace and Ubud Art Market. Learn more about the history of Ubud through the timelessly designed courtyard and architecture of the palace. Our guide will let you explore freely through the centre of arts and crafts within Ubud Art Market. Bring home a piece or two for your friends and family at home!

Please note that these last stops are also the endpoint for guests from Ubud, while guests from South Bali will be driven back to Discova Office.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

Starting Time: 7:00 am - End Time: 5:30 pm

Meeting Point: Hotel Lobby

Pick up time: 6:00 am

Start today’s adventure by meeting your fellow traveller and your guide for the day at Beer Brothers Jl. Matahari Terbit Sanur. Enjoy the fun 45-minute speedboat ride to Nusa Penida, where a driver will be waiting at the ferry drop-off point. Set off and get ready to be awed all day by a series of breathtaking discoveries. The first stop is Broken Beach, a small cove locally known as Pantai Pasih Uug. Broken Beach is a naturally formed lagoon, a circular hole in a rocky outcrop that appears at first glance to be entirely enclosed by cliffs. Sip on a coconut at a nearby stall and wonder at this natural spectacle, watching clear water drift in from the ocean beyond. From the towering heights of Broken Beach, head closer to the water at Angel’s Billabong. This natural “infinity pool” is a lagoon framed by staggered and jagged volcanic rocks. The water is clear enough to see the strange patterns of rock formations on the pool floor.

Head next to Kelingking Beach, one of the most striking natural landmarks in Indonesia. Kelingking translates in English to “pinkie finger,” but the breathtaking viewpoint is most famous for its striking resemblance to a Tyrannosaurus Rex! Stand atop the steep cliffs to marvel at the famous rock formation, jutting into the water to cradle a white sand beach. In Kelingking Beach, you will be given free time to enjoy snacks and cold drinks at plenty of friendly “warung,” or small local shops and eateries.

Next, we will take you to one of the amazing beaches in Nusa Penida, Crystal Bay. As the name suggests, jump right in to the crystal clear, calm, and clean water of this picturesque beach, abundant in exotic marine life. A healthy coral reef lies not far out from shore, making this the perfect opportunity to rent snorkelling gear and peek underwater. Swim and dive in the temperate waves or simply relax under the shade of a coconut tree. After a full day of exploration and relaxation, return to the harbour to board a speedboat back to Bali.
